Jay Chou's Ting Ma Ma de Hua MTV.

Its a really sweet song come to think of it. I never realised how meaningful the lyrics were until i watched the mTv and noticed the words=) its kinda cool that he actually dedicates each track of his album to one of his family member. There was one for this dad, his grandma and now one for his mum! And his ye hui mei album was named after his mum. Yea its really sweet if you understand about his childhood and how he feels towards his mum.

Alright, I will admit it. I was up yesterday till 5 am (cos i napped from 9-12 pm? watching shows, with sporadic calls from poor ghim. On my favorite abc.com website watching streamed shows, somethign i havent been able to do for quite a while.

The Bachelor: An officer and a gentleman
GOSH he is perfect, or at least thats what the camera portrays him as. Such a motivated person! I really hope he finds his true love, but i don't think the show offers him that. Its really weird to have so many woman to think about all at once, and for the women, its awkward to have to share your crush/love for this swinging bachelor with at least a dozen other women. One moment when ur all alone with him, you just feel like the world and he's yours. But the moment you step out of the hot spa or the helicopter (or whatever dramatic and romantic ways they try to hook on the viewer), its all about competition for love.

Never should that be.

I remember learning in psych class that love can be "induced". There was this particular bridge experiment consisting of 2 groups of passersby men and a pretty lady experimenter. In one group, she approaches the men to do a survey on a high suspension bridge and the other, she approaches them on normal grounds. In both groups, she hands them her namecard.
THe results: More than half of the men approached on the bridge called her back and tried to ask her for a date. While only one or two in the other group did. Experimenters proposed that the feelings of risk, adrenaline rush on the precarious bridge and associated with a charming attractive lady, can be interpreted by our brain as the feeling of love.

P.S.. Guys, next time make your first date one filled with adrenaline rush.

But despite all this reality show vibes and criticism, I still find myself watching 3 episodes straight. Its inexplicable why I just keep watching it, although I know most of it might probably be scripted. The girls arent that pretty (except for amanda and stephanie in my opinion. Tessa is pretty unique too).

I guess it all boils down to the bachelor. Presenting,

Andy Baldwin's biography: (its crazy)

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Andy Baldwin, M.D., 30, an undersea medical officer for a special operations dive unit stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, has been selected to star in the tenth edition of ABC's popular romance reality series, when The Bachelor returns to the network in the Spring of 2007. In addition to his professional accomplishments, this Bachelor is also a world-class triathlete. Now this real-life 'officer and a gentleman' faces the most exciting mission of his life -- finding true love.

Andy grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was valedictorian in high school and a competitive swimmer who made All-American; he was even named ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995. His small-town upbringing in a family of modest means taught him a strong work ethic, so as a teenager he worked three jobs (paper boy, lifeguard and his own lawn mowing business), all with an eye towards paying for his college education. As Andy explains, there had never been a doctor or military officer in the Baldwin family before, so he set those professional goals for himself. He saved $25,000 for college before graduating high school, when the Navy offered him a full ROTC scholarship. He took it and went to Duke University, where he was a varsity letter winner on the men's swim team and began training for marathons, all while taking a pre-med course load and earning a degree in biology, with a concentration in genetics. After graduating Duke with honors, he enrolled in the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine, and was a surgical intern at Naval Hospital San Diego.

His move to the west coast inspired a new passion -- cycling -- and he combined this with his excellence in swimming and running to compete in his first triathlon in 2000, falling in love with the sport. He has since gone on to compete internationally in numerous Ironman, Half-Ironman and other triathlons and marathons, often ranking among the top 5 finishers in his age group. One of his biggest supporters at his races was his beloved Uncle Tom, who died of pancreatic cancer just one month after diagnosis. To honor his uncle, Andy established a fund to raise money for pancreatic cancer research, and has raised over $20,000 to date. In 2006 he was asked to serve as group surgeon for a team of 50 military personnel headed to Laos. His role during the mission was to take care of the medical needs of his team and to treat Laotian villagers in need of medical attention. The experience was unforgettable.

Andy's achievements are matched by his good-natured personality, stunning good looks and self-deprecating sense of humor. He's an unabashed romantic, has watched the series and believes that the show can help find him the woman who could become his wife.

Hope he finds its! ( in a skeptic tone =P)

Facebook status: Liyu is happy!
But totally worn out. Constantly in a rush, and got a thousand things on your agenda. Boosh! But when its all over (almost), you suddenly feel lost.
That's kinda what I'm feeling right now.

So fast! Im another semester older. Brrr. But looking on the bright side, perhaps another semester more mature.

Seniors Day concluded on saturday. The hokkienmee batch is leaving us=S I was talking to jean and lynn ( rhymes hurh) and expressing concerns over the disunity in meesiam batch. But i guess things will all work out next year!=)

watch this show!
parental guidance - channel 5 latest sitcom. not so bad after all, starring adrian pang funnyman and jessica hsuan. yeps that hk actress.i didn noe she carried a british accent.

but anw, my point is

this is a show that sorta featured RGS!
Jessica and Adrian are trying their foster daughter or sth into jessica's alma mater named- ELITE GIRLS' SCHOOL -- they tried all sorts of methods that didnt work and then they heard that the school was setting up a team to join the KNITTING OLYMPIADS.(because the school had already won all sorts of awards and had all the talents they needed already)

so overnight, their girl became a good knitter.

And all this while it was like not very obvious or direct to any particular school... yet in general a lot of schools are elite. UNTIL

they went to see the principal.. with a knitted scarf that was in 3 DISTINCT blocks of GREEN BLACK WHITE ha

Its just 6 more days to the 17th of April, when i have finals for 3 of my courses!
What a sscary day. So much to do for that. But at the same time, it'll be liberating =S
Gotta really psych up for it and work hard. If i can get the grades i want this semester, I would be really happy with myself, cos i achieved 4 out of 5 of my resolutions for this semester. YAY=)

I am getting so very irritated with myself. Why do i need so much sleep? If I didn't need so much sleep, i would be able to do probably 2x more the stuff im handling right now. Having a throbbing headache right now doesnt really help much.

SEA night is officially over -> having submitted writeups, reports for SIF, and just back from a long dinner with Dan to consolidate information. Talking about Dan, he is really a character, great convo with him today. Didnt know he stays like one street away from Stockwell. Amazing!

Its time to hit florida after this (cold) semester ends. Michigan is starting to snow again, for some really unknown reason. I need to get away to the beach for
1) lazy afternoons
2) the sun cos i come from the tropics after all
3) a good tan for a healthy glow. i think i look ghostly being so pale.
4) a short respite before another 2 months of spring.

PSYCH UP>PSYCH UP> PSYCH UP. I wish i could set myself on auto pilot from now till 17th april.

I can't believe I got through the craziest month of my life.

Looking back now,

I've gained so much...
International friendships
Stronger understanding with fellow singaporeans
Better managing skills
Greater understanding of campus facilities
A stronger love for Singapore
Improved interpersonal skills
Learnt to forsake my precious sleep for work
Eye bags
A badly swollen ankle
One stronger fa-cai team
A better understanding of myself in ways i can improve

Southeast Asia Cultural Night is definitely a life experience itself. So many people to thank and those whose presence, encouragement and professionalism to learn from.

Time to catch up on work, sleep and lots of friendship!!!=))
